Cubs Main Summer Camp 2007 - Gilwell Park

Our main summer camp this year for the cubs will be held at Gilwell park (The International Headquarters of Scouting). If you would like your child to attend then please contact Hannah or Claire as soon as possible.

Gift Aid

We've just had confirmation from our Treasurer that 1st Stansted Scout Group has been able to reclaim an extra £640.30 from the Inland Revenue as Gift Aid from subscriptions!

Gift aiding your subscription is easy, there is no extra cost to you and it means we can claim an extra 28p for every £1 you give in subscriptions! This not only means we get extra money, but also means that we don't have to increase sub payments!

If you're not already gift aiding your subscriptions, please contact Akela - all you need to do is completed a short form and we'll do the rest!

Harlow Canoeing Evening for the Cubs

A great evening in which we all got very wet.

Launch Opening Day - 7 July 2007

The clouds parted and the sun shone for the official re-opening of the Cub hut on Saturday. The day started with a treasure hunt around the village - did you know that there is only one female name on the war memorial, or that the Feather's Pub used to be called the Bell? There were also photos on display showing the renovation work on the hut and grounds - how easily I had forgotten how truly awful the hut was! (As if I could forget those toilets, that even the spiders refused to go near!!)

At midday the hut was opened by Rob Lyon, County Commissioner and Malcolm Treacher - they even had a letter of congratulations from the Chief Scout - Peter Duncan.

It was nice to see lots of scouts, families and leaders, past and present there - we even had our photo taken for the Herts and Essex Observer and Saffron Walden Reporter (don't forget to buy a copy!) The day was finished off with a smashing BBQ!

Thanks to all who attended and made the day a real success!
